A Fool and His Art (a cautionary nursery rhyme for adults)

A Fool and His Art

Expression through creation,
Was the young man’s drive.

To connect with others through his vision,
Made him feel alive.

Through pencils and paint,
He left them in awe.

Through photos and words,
They saw what he saw.

But what started as art,
Ended in fortune and fame.

What was once about the message,
Became all about the name.

He lost his voice,
He had nothing left to say.

Except, “Give them what they want,
And I’m sure to get paid.”

He had nothing,
Except money and a large home.

He was left broken and aged,
He was left, all alone.
